First Day Of Summer
Charcoal, Graphite; 3 1/4" x 4 1/2"
And then, at the last,
an unforeseen Turning,
and Somehow, a Way, a Door we knew once-
lost unknowing, turned back for too late,
though we sought, mourned,
dreamt and woke grieving,
never quite forgot, it seems, after all-
For in this sharply drawn breath,
this moment Outside all we have known
it stands before us again,
that dream remembered:
All the same, nothing like,
impossible, immistakable,
and still ajar.
Across a threshold bright and beckoning,
the First Day of Summer waits,
golden promise undimmed.

It's good to see something new. I was beginning to get worried about you. This is another tiny masterpiece. I can hear the water rushing and the leaves of that lonely tree rustling.
Actually, my own blog has been pretty scarce lately so I can't complain.
Thanks, Tom. Spring and summer always seem a busy time here (It's warm enough to go OUTSIDE! :) and that's been especially evident this year. Other work hasn't left as much time or energy for drawing or writing as I'd like lately. But there are times for everything. And sometimes a break is good, too.
